Amber Alert Canceled after child found as a result of social distancing

EDMONTON – An Amber Alert was issued and then promptly canceled this weekend as a young child was located almost immediately. The child, who wandered away, caused her mother to immediately report the disappearance and resulted in the subsequent Amber Alert. Fortunately, the child proved to be easy to see due to social distancing in effect at the Old Department Store where she was found.

“I was sure I’d lost her,” said the mother, “my daughter must have seen something shiny and took off. I was so thankful that everyone is still worried about Covid-19, we were able to spot her right away!”

Although many Amber Alerts do not end so quickly and with the same happy result, local police were quick to report the timely resolution and the Alert’s end, with a police representative remarking “At least we can say social distancing saved someone.”
